FALL has arrived!

Connor has made the 18 month milestone...and he is still in those 90 percentiles for weight, length, and head. We frequent the doctors office regularly with all the viruses and bugs Connor brings home from daycare. He is saying so many more words now, and tries to say exactly what you say. He makes animal sounds too...when you ask what sound does a cow make?... he will moo. He also loves to point to his head, eyes, ears, nose, and mouth. He even knows numbers...and can show you different numbers in a book.
We had visitors come to see the new house. Oma and Auntie Kate came first. We went to the Yadkin Valley Pumpkin Festival with them where Katie competed in a pumpkin pie eating contest. While Grammy and Grandpa Doehne were here, we went to Carrigan Farms' pumpkin patch. Connor was on the verge of extreme sickness (little did we know)....but even though he wasn't himself and didn't feel great, he was still a trooper.
This past weekend the 3 of us went to Blowing Rock as a little mountain get away to celebrate our 6 year wedding anniversary. Connor had so much fun playing in the leaves. The weather was beautiful and there were still fall leaves on the trees. There are many pics to see....so enjoy!!

We're Back!

Hello again!! I know we are WAY overdue for a posting. You all have probably given up on us! Truly I have had good intentions of posting, but since I have gone back to work full time at a new school and am pregnant and have been tired and nauseous for weeks, as well as Connor being sick nonstop for over 5 weeks and given it to us on at least 2 occasions...not to mention the move to our new house....I guess you could say we have be WAY too busy!! So can you really blame us!?!
So yes, lots has been going on in our lives. But back to Connor since this blog is all about him...he is doing great despite his many illnesses! He is saying many different words now....go, outside, ice cream, bye, mom, lu....just to name a few. He has become such a picky little eater....we keep trying to give him our food but he still prefers his baby food and, of course, crackers and cookies over anything nutritious! He is still sleeping great....down at 7:30 up by 6:30, but sometimes he'll let us sleep in. At daycare, they only take 1 nap, so he is napping a good 2 hour nap every day. Speaking of daycare....not sure he is adjusting as fast as we would have thought. We are on week 6 or 7 and he still cries when Daddy drops him off. Thankfully he seems to be quite happy while we are away. Throughout his bouts of sickness, we found that he is allergic to penicillin. After being on Amoxicillin for over a week, he broke out head to toe in hives. Doctor says we will revisit that around age 5 but for now, we will avoid all those antibiotics.
We are coming out of his last round of runny noses and coughs....so I am hoping for a good run of health for awhile. We have Connor's 18 months check up this Friday....so we will report back after that.
As for new baby bun Doehne...he/she is due on March 19th (only 5 days before Connor was due). We get to find out the sex on October 27th. So stay tuned for more news on that later next month!!

Here we are at the end of our summer. Where has the time gone?! Wanted to post some recent pics of the rest of our July....enjoy!

July 4th!

Happy 4th of July!! We spent a quiet holiday at home this year, after just returning from Florida. No fireworks, no cook outs, but we were satisfied to be home and be able to relax. Below are some pics of our holiday weekend. Particularly, Connor drinking from a cup, eating pizza, chasing bubbles, getting into the cabinets, and playing in the fountain. Enjoy!

VACATION!

We just returned from a great vacation in FLORIDA!!! Connor and Mommy spent 2 weeks down there. The first week we were in Venice with Oma and Auntie Kate. We did a little road trip and went on some college visits. All the way to DeLand and then back through Orlando, Lakeland, and Tampa. While in Orlando, we got to visit with the McCully's, whom we haven't seen since the babies came along last spring! In Venice we got to see all of Mommy's family members and friends. It was nice to visit since we had not been in town since Christmas.
The second week, Daddy came into town and we all headed down south to go to the beach condo at South Seas Resort and Plantation on Captiva Island. There we met up with Grammy and Grampy. Oma and Katie headed down there too for a night. Aunt Stephanie and Uncle Rob came all the way from Chicago to visit as well. While here we were able to be total beach bums. Sleep, eat, and sun everyday all day! It was so nice! Connor loved the beach and enjoyed playing in the sand. He was not even scared of the water when the tide would come up the shore. One of his favorite things to do was line up shells along the arms of the beach chairs, putting them on there just so. We also spent a lot of time in the pool. He had a blast splashing and hanging out in his floatie.
Connor also started walking a lot more on this trip. Before we left he was certainly taking a few steps here or there and then of course, cruising the furniture non stop. But while down in FL, he really started to take off more on his own. I think he has mastered it pretty well since then...and now he primarily is walking with the occasional drop down to crawl when he wants to get there faster. He also has been doing better with his sippy cup....for all those who know my endless drama with that. However, he will still not drink from the sippy with a sippy top on, it must be off and open topped. So needless to say, we are happy but there have been countless spills all over the place! Also, eating table food is gradually getting better. He had his first pizza at the McCully's house and his first chocolate chip cookie at the beach condo. We love to see when he is willing to explore with food. His new favorite word is gamp pa or just pa...obviously, calling for his Grandpa...one of his most favorite people!
We had a wonderful 2 weeks away, there were a lot of pics taken...so I chose the best of the best...and still ended up with over 100 to share! So enjoy!

Amelia Island

Last weekend we went down to Amelia Island, FL for the wedding of Natalie Thomas and Zach Friedman. We had an amazing time at the resort! Spent time with family and friends. Grammy, Gramps, Oma, and Aunt Katie were all there. Jenny and Josh Highlander and little Colton came over for the day to visit also. We all enjoyed the beach, the pool and the Florida sunshine! Connor had so much more fun at the beach this time, since his last visit was last summer. He was laughing each time the tide rolled over his feet. He loved to put his hand in the sand and feel the textures.

More Spring Fun!

We wanted to post some new pictures from the past few weeks. We have been staying busy...and plan to all the way up until summer time!
We headed to Asheville for a weekend at the Biltmore to see their festival of flowers. It was gorgeous!!! Flowers flowers everywhere. Connor could have cared less, but he enjoyed being out and about and did very well in the hotel room.
The weather is heating up quite a bit, so we were able to break out Connor's summer baby pool last weekend. He loved it!!! It is more than the average baby pool, it squirts water out of it too!!
Also are some pics of Connor at Gymboree. He has been attending since early April, and is having a ball! It has been good for him to be around other babies and play! I think Grammy and Grampy have fun too!!
Updates on Connor....he is still not walking on his own....we know he is very close...but he seems to be lazy and just not interested in doing it all by himself. We are also working hard on the sippy cup....he is not a fan, but we keep trying!! He still loves his books....the current favs are Dr. Seuss's "Mr. Brown Can Moo", it has lots of great sounds and he tries to imitate a few; he is also loving Dr. Seuss's "Foot Book". We keep trying to get him to tell us where his foot is. He is so smart! He can point to things when you ask...I actually have a video that I will try to get on here this weekend of that. As you will see in the pics, he makes a diamond with his fingers...this is for "diamond in the sky" as in Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. He wants the song sang constantly. Every time he sees his grammy he make the diamond, wanting the song to be sung. It is too funny!!! His sleeping is great...no problems there! He still takes 2 naps a day and sleeps all through the night. We are pretty lucky!! We are having so much fun, so enjoy the pics below!!

Spring HAS Arrived!!

It is finally starting to feel like spring around here. We have had some beautiful weather and have started getting Connor outside more! Recently, we took him to the park to go on the swings....he loved it!! Then we took him for his first bike ride! He doesn't mind it as long as you stay moving! Here are some pics from our adventures! Connor's 1st Birthday and Easter Weekend!

We had an eventful week with Connor's 1st birthday celebration and Easter.
My mom and sister came up for the festivities and, of course, we had Jeff's parents here too. It was wonderful!! We had a small birthday party on Saturday. Unfortunately Connor was not a big fan of his cake. After numerous attempts of getting him to be interested in it....he had a melt down. So we thought we would put the cake away and try it another time where there wasn't too many people around. (That didn't work either!!). We are so thankful to everyone who sent their well wishes when they could not be there with us on Connor's special day. We would have loved to see you all but understand how far we are away!!!
Easter was extra special too...it was the first time we had a big family dinner at our house!! We all went to Easter service at church and then had a big Easter feast! I can't wait for next year when Connor will be able to participate in the easter egg hunts!!!

March Madness

That is exactly what it has been....madness!!! I haven't posted in forever...what's new, I know. Thankfully most of you will see pics through facebook, but here you will get even more!!!
So the month of March was in like a lion and out like one too. We kicked off the month with Jeff's birthday....ripe old age of 31. He got, or should I say, we got BIKES for his birthday!! We are so excited to take Connor for a ride!! Yep, haven't even gotten to do that yet! Later in the month was good ole St. Patty's Day...nothing exciting to rave about, but just another holiday to dress Connor up and show him off. After all, there is Irish blood in him so we have to acknowledge it! He was named after his grandmother, who is formerly an O'Connor! Then came my birthday....celebrating my 29th, again...heehee ;).... No pics to show from that....but it was a lovely birthday. Thinking back to where I was last year on my birthday, feels like light years away. I was anxiously awaiting the arrival of a very late baby boy. Who would have known all the joy and happiness he has brought into my life. AWWW...I could squeeze my little 'bunches'.

Connor says Mama!

Connor said 'mama' for the first time this weekend!!! I was so thrilled!! I think I was beaming with excitement all weekend. After all, he has been saying 'dada' for months now (or at least it feels like months). Mama comes out especially when he is getting ready to get upset....so mama comes to the rescue!
Connor's 11 month birthday is just a week away....and then the BIG 1 YEAR!!! Where has the time gone?!
Just wanted to post some recent pictures. Charlotte got yet ANOTHER snow....probably around 6 inches or so. I swear this is the coldest winter we have had since we moved here!!! So more snow brought another opportunity to take Connor out and about in it. AGAIN he was not a fan! Maybe next year when he is old enough to run around and play in it...and forget how cold it is :)
Connor just LOVES to stand everywhere and anywhere! He loves his Leap Frog table he got for Christmas, because he is able to stand and play all at the same time!! Another new favorite is his box car....diaper box, turned into a ride we push him around in upstairs. He is too funny.....he just holds onto the sides and cruises until we stop.

Connor's 9 Month Check Up

Well it is no secret that Connor is a big boy....and the doctor confirmed it! He weighed in at 24.5 pounds and 30 inches long. (Weight in the 95% and length in the 90%). Hopefully he will begin to trim down as he gets more mobile. He is still scooting around all over the place and loves to stand while holding onto something.
Mommy had a fun little "photo shoot" with Connor yesterday....we got a few cute pics that are shown below! Hugs from all of us!

Connor's Newest Tricks

Every time we turn around Connor is doing something new!! In the pictures above you can see he is standing pretty well by himself as long as he is holding on to something. And then in the next picture, you can see that he has his top 4 teeth coming in. Pretty soon this boy is going to have a mouth full of chompers!
Also, posted here are a few little clips of him doing "so big" and giving kisses and then another montage of him rolling the ball.
He has started his own version of crawling....but looks more like an army crawl since he is not up on his knees. (Having technicaly difficulties...will post the other 2 videos later)
We head to the doctor this Friday for Connor's 9 month check up. We will report back this weekend to let you all know what the doctor said!
